What this page covers
Gambling is entertainment that costs money. It is not income, not a way out of debt and not a skill you can master into profit. This page is about keeping it that way.

None of this is complicated, and all of it is easier to set before you start than after a losing run:
You must be 18 or over to gamble in Ireland. The Gambling Regulation Act 2024 prohibits gambling by minors and established the Gambling Regulatory Authority of Ireland to supervise the sector, including advertising and the protection of people at risk of harm.
If children use your device, set it up so that gambling sites cannot be reached: operating-system parental controls and filtering software such as Net Nanny or Qustodio all block gambling categories.
Problem gambling rarely announces itself. It usually shows up first as small changes in behaviour:
One of these is worth noticing. Several together are worth acting on.
Licensed operators are expected to give you controls over your own account. The usual set includes deposit and loss limits, session reminders, cooling-off periods and self-exclusion, which blocks access for a fixed term or permanently.
Exactly which of these 20Bet offers, and how they are applied, is set out in the operator’s own account settings and terms — check there rather than relying on any third-party summary, including ours.
The Gambling Regulation Act 2024 also provides for a National Gambling Exclusion Register, which is intended to let a person exclude themselves across licensed operators at once rather than site by site.
Support is free, confidential and available to family members as well as to the person gambling:
If you or someone close to you is in immediate distress, contact your GP or the emergency services. Reaching out early makes the problem smaller, not bigger.
Ask yourself plainly: have I ever lied about how much I gamble? Have I gambled money I needed for something else? Have I gone back the same day to win losses back? Have I felt I should cut down but could not?
A single honest “yes” is reason enough to set a limit today. More than one is reason enough to talk to one of the services above.
